Canal Concerts, Military Tattoos & Remembrances

This summer kicked off with an amazing concert on the most beautiful and famous Leiden canal, The Rapenburg.   I had the sublime pleasure of singing the duet Tell Him, with the incredibly beautiful and talented Gerlinde Vliegenhart accompanied by the wonderful  Sempre Crescendo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Guido Marchena.    The concert was hosted by student vereniging Minerva celebrating its 205 year lustrum (anniversary).  It hosted well known artists originating from Leiden.  What an honor to be embraced as Leidenaar. Congratulations to Guido Marchena  who produced and organized this event for Minerva. The concert was a huge success!

The week following I was off to sing in the Taptoe Dendermonde, Belgium with the Band of Liberation and Pipes led by, Simon Dubbelaar.

In August I traveled again with the BOL and Simon,  but this time to sing in Germany at the Tattoo Kaltenburg Royal Music Show,  led by Major Jason Griffiths. 7,000 plus people in the audience ! What a fantastic evening it was.   I sang the Skye Boat song from Outlander which also features Anneke Holt on the tin whistle. Check out the video here!

I lived in New York City, ten blocks from the World Trade Center on  September 11, 2001.  I will never forget that day and the months that followed for as long as I live.  Memories and moments forever ingrained in my brain and heart:  the rawness, the lives lost, the fear, the sadness, the smell of the air, the blue sky and the resilience, strength and kindness of New Yorkers and beyond.  It is an honor to be asked to sing this September 11th  at the American’s Overseas Remembrance Ceremony, American Women’s Club of The Hague  at 5:30pm. Everyone is welcome.
